BluetoothRemote

App

Direct Bluetooth control for BLE relays and smart switches — gates, doors, lights.

BluetoothRemote talks to your relay directly over Bluetooth Low Energy: no hub, no account, no internet connection. Open the app, tap the control, the relay reacts. Everything stays on your phone.

It is built around what a relay actually does in a house: a gate or garage motor, a door strike, a doorbell, a pump, or plain lights.

This is a free app with no ads, no tracking, and no accounts. It was written for personal use and a few other people, and published in case someone else finds it useful.

Features

  • Toggle or pulse — switch a channel on/off, or fire a momentary pulse for a gate/door motor that closes itself.
  • Multi-channel devices — name and configure each channel individually.
  • Real state display — show a channel's actual state from a sensor the device already reads (e.g. a door sensor reporting Open / Closed) instead of the raw relay position.
  • Quick Settings tiles — trigger a relay straight from the notification shade.
  • App shortcuts — long-press the app icon for your most-used actions.

For tinkerers

  • RPC console — send any command to the device.
  • Device panels — Wi-Fi, system info and restart, on-device scripts (list, start/stop, run-on-boot), Bluetooth pairing, and paired-phone management.
  • BLU button emulation (experimental) — broadcast encrypted BTHome button events.

Privacy & security

  • No account, no cloud, and no INTERNET permission at all. Location is not used.
  • Your device list and passwords never leave the phone. Passwords are encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore.
  • A local log records every device activation, so accidental triggers are traceable.

Safety notice This app operates physical hardware that can injure people or damage property. You are responsible for ensuring that every device is safe to operate remotely. See the in-app disclaimer.

Setup

  1. On the device, enable Bluetooth — and, for relay control, "Bluetooth device control" — in its own settings.
  2. Put the device into pairing mode once.
  3. For relay control, provide the device's RPC password.

Compatibility

Tested with

  • Shelly 1 Gen4 (firmware 2.0)

Other Shelly Gen4 and Gen2+ Bluetooth devices use the same protocol and are likely to work, but have not been verified yet. This list will grow.
